I recently attended the Santa Ynez Valley Charter School Auction Dinner on may 6th.2011 The theme was Latin American/Fiesta. J.R.’s Catering serviced the event beautifully with passed hors d’ oeuvres of mini chorizo tostada cups with corn relish, bella mushroom queadillas, and a fresh guacamole that was the best I’ve ever tasted. The Buffet was an incredible food extravaganza consisting of a double sided buffet of 9 different dishes ranging from steamed chicken and green chile tamales to red oak grilled beef fajitas with sauteed onions and peppers. The salads are so fresh and presented so beautifully. J.R.’s grilled pineapple, jicama and papaya salad with creamy avocado dressing was a tropical delight. The salsa bar had seven varieties of salsas ranging from sweet n’ spicy mango and kiwi salsa to hot and firey roasted Jalapeno salsa. He even had a Nopali (cactus) salsa with firey hot habanero chiles. For dessert there was the traditional Tres Leches cake with carmel sauce and raspberry filled Churros. The food was a very pleasant overload to the five senses. The dining atmosphere reminded me of a vacation to the finest resorts in Playa Blanca or Ixtapa Mexico. J.R.’s food was fantastic and I intend to reccommend him to all my friends.
